Differences between Sage 200 and Sage 50 Estimating

Please note:

  1. This is not a comprehensive list, but includes the major areas of functionality likely to be significant in deciding which product is suitable
  2. For information relating to general, non module-specific differences between Sage 50 and Sage 200 Manufacturing, such as locations and traceability please click here.

Selling Price basis

Both the Sage 50 and the Sage 200 products offer the ability to calculate selling prices in an Estimate based on cost plus a markup. The markup may be variable depending on the cost type e.g. Labour could be marked up at 100% while Materials might be plus 50% and Travelling Expenses 0% . However, the Sage 50 product additionally offers the option to price Materials at the selling price stored within the Stock Record in ‘Products’ (i.e. Stock Control). This is useful where material prices included in an Estimate are likely to be already known to the potential customer. This facility is not currently available in the Sage 200 product but may be included in a future release.

Explosion View

The Sage 50 product includes an ‘Explosion’ view of Estimates which enables the user to see a tree view of any record. Clicking on the ‘+’ sign next to record number opens up Stages, which may then in turn be opened to show all elements of the record such as materials, non-stock items, operations etc. In this way the whole structure of the Estimate may be seen on the screen.
